Create a rule from a message

In this example, we will select “ Report messages from someone to continue . ” You will need to click on the template and edit the description by clicking and changing the underline values and clicking OK . Next, you’ll want to select Next , define the terms, add the relevant information, and then click Next . You can then quit the setting by naming and reviewing it and choosing Finish .
How to create a rule from a template
- Select File > Manage Rules & Alerts > New Rule .
- Select a template. For example, flagging a message:
- Select Mark messages from someone for follow up .
- Edit rule description.
- Specify a value with a line, choose the options you want, and then select OK .
- Select Next .
- Specify the terms, add the relevant information, and then select Agree .
- Select Next .
- Finish setting up the rule.
- You can name the rule, set rule options, and review the rule description. Click a line value to edit.
- Select Finish .Some rules will only run Outlook turned on. If you get this warning, select OK .
- Select OK .
Notes on the rules
There are two types of rules in Outlook. The first depends on the server, the second depends on the client only. Server-based rules work on your mailbox on the server when Outlook isn’t working. They apply to messages that go first to your inbox, and the rules don’t work until they go through the server. Meanwhile, client rules only work on your PC only. These are the rules that run in Outlook instead of your server, and they will only run when Outlook is running.
