The Jurassic World created by Steven Spielberg in 1993 comes to a conclusion, with the new iteration, Jurassic World: Dominion, directed by Colin Trevorrow. The film attempts to pay homage to both Spielberg and fans of him, as it provides the trio of stars from the original franchise, classic scenes, nostalgia and more.

JURASSIC WORLD: DOMINION

Jurassic Park was released in 1993 and was a box office success. The film tells the story of paleontologists Alan Grant (Sam Neill), Ellie Sattler (Laura Dern) and mathematician Ian Malcolm (Jeff Goldblum) who are chosen to tour a theme park on an island populated by dinosaurs. These animals were created from a sample of prehistoric DNA. This group of scientists and mathematicians are assured that it is a safe place, however, several predators escape and start hunting. From this outcome arises the famous franchise that we all know today.

The new trilogy called Jurassic World began in 2015, taking place in a luxury resort as a habitat for a wide variety of dinosaurs. However, they escape again and an animal expert, Owen (Chris Pratt), begins to use his special abilities to save the tourists. In the upcoming film Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom we see Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Chris trying to save the remaining dinosaurs on Isla Nublar.

Four years after the destruction of Isla Nublar, in the new film, Jurassic World: Dominion, we can see how society has had to adapt to living with the dinosaurs. On the other hand, Claire and Owen hide Maisie Lockwood (Isabella Sermon), the first genetic clone of Charlotte Lockwood.

In this new film we see the meeting of the original cast with the cast of the second trilogy. The original cast, Alan Grant, Ellie and Ian, on several occasions will make us smile and give us that nostalgia of why the fans like Jurassic World. While Claire and Owen keep trying to save as many dinosaurs as possible and Maisie.

The cast is joined by Biosyn (genetics corporation) communications chief Ramsay Cole, played by Mamodou Athie. Ramsay’s character is an interesting one since he is based on wanting to do good to this corporation, which only wants power before anything. On the other hand, Kayla Wats, played by DeWanda Wise, is a pilot who loads anything, legal or illegal. These new members are a good integration for the film.

However, the execution of certain ideas along with the script makes the film fail on several occasions; however, the cast of the classic trilogy has several epic lines, like the ones we were used to hearing. In addition, the mixture of all these characters makes several scenes feel loaded without reaching a clear objective of the purpose of all. Also, there were flaws in the development of the sequence since there were several plot holes during the film .

In this film we see Velociraptor Blue with her daughter Beta, who are part of the main plot. Both dinosaurs give us that feeling of wanting to have one and take care of them (although they were forgotten at a certain point in the initial plot). All the scenes that included the dinosaurs were spectacular. As much as the cinematography as its design. Although the shots containing dinosaurs were quite a few, I would have liked to see more. In the tape, classic dinosaurs from the first trilogy and new species are observed. Several shots in this film reference Steven Spielberg’s trilogy and I think the fans will be very pleased. The final minutes work as a great closure for this franchise.
