On the occasion of the inauguration of dream Padma Bridge, the Government of India extended its best wishes and congratulations to the Government and people of Bangladesh.
This was stated in a press release issued by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Friday (June 24).
It is said that the Government and people of India extend their best wishes and congratulations to the Government and people of Bangladesh on the occasion of the inauguration of Padma Bridge by the Prime Minister of Bangladesh on the successful completion of this groundbreaking project.
‘The completion of this much awaited project testifies to the courageous decision and visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. This success proves the decision of the Prime Minister and we firmly believe in it, which we have unwaveringly supported when Bangladesh alone decided to take this project forward.
According to the press release, the Padma Bridge will not only improve inter-Bangladesh connectivity, but also provide the necessary logistics and business momentum to connect the common areas between Bangladesh and India. This bridge will play an important role in enhancing our bilateral and sub-regional connectivity.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Padma Bridge on Saturday (June 25) morning. He will first take part in a gathering at the Mawa end of the bridge at 10 am. Then climb the bridge with the toll and unveil the opening plaque there.
Later, the Prime Minister will cross the bridge by car and unveil another plaque at Jazira. Sheikh Hasina will take part in a public meeting at Shibchar in Madaripur this afternoon. Traffic on the bridge will resume on Sunday (June 26) at 8 am with the scheduled toll.

The instructions to go to the opening ceremony of the Padma Bridge
Guests have been instructed to attend the inaugural function of the Padma Bridge. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued instructions. Besides, the DMP has specially requested to travel from Dhaka metropolis with enough time to reach the event within the stipulated time.
Everyone is asked to come to the venue one hour before the scheduled time in the invitation letter. They have been asked to test the Covid-19 within 48 hours before the start of the program and take the report with them. Keys, key rings, pens, mobiles, umbrellas, handbags, cameras and electronic items have been asked not to be taken away. All the protocols related to Covid-19 including mask removal have been asked to be followed at the event. The sticker provided with the invitation is said to be affixed in a visible place on the left side of the windshield of the car.
Besides, the guests have been asked to take seats at the venue at 9 am on Saturday. After that, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will arrive at the venue at Mawa end at 10 am. The documentary will be shown one minute later. After that, Minister for Road Transport and Bridges Obaidul Quader will address the President at 10:05 am.

Budget for the inauguration of Padma Bridge
The government has allocated Tk 5 crore. However, the project director has been instructed to release funds from the Padma Multipurpose Bridge Construction Project to the DCs of these districts. Security has been beefed up for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to address a public meeting at Shibchar in Madaripur on Saturday.
On June 15, the names of DCs of four districts have been allotted from the bridge division. Deputy Secretary of the Bridge Department. The letter signed by Abul Hasan said demand letters have been received from Dhaka Deputy Commissioner, Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner, Madaripur Deputy Commissioner and Shariatpur Deputy Commissioner for organizing various programs for 3 to 6 days to celebrate the inauguration of Padma Bridge.
In view of the demand letter, allocations were made in the four districts considering the scope of the program. The allocated districts are Tk 1.5 crore for Dhaka district, Tk 1.39 crore for Munshiganj district, Tk 1.39 crore for Madaripur district and Tk 50 lakh for Shariatpur district. Besides, how much has been allocated for celebration in 60 districts. That is not being said from the bridge department.
