Eterna City can only be reached by bicycle, so trainers must find another way in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.
Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl follows the same model as all the other entries in the main RPG series. Trainers must battle and catch Pokemon to build a team strong enough to take on all Gym Leaders and some variation of the Elite Four.
The Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl Switch remakes don’t stray too far from this successful formula, keeping the same character roster and core gameplay of the originals. This includes the correct route to follow when tasked with finding the city of Eterna.

How to get to the city of Eterna in Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl
After finding and defeating Roark in the Oreburgh city gym, the trainers set out to reach the city of Eterna. Unfortunately, the road to the north is impassable, as a bicycle is needed to climb the steep incline.
Instead of looking for a bike to Eterna City, head west, return to Jubilife City, and then head north to Route 204 . If players don’t already have the Old Rod in Pokemon Shiny Diamond and Shiny Pearl , they can head west to Jubilife City to get it from a fisherman. As you travel north on Route 204, use your newly acquired Rock Smash ability to clear a path in the cave. Keep going until you reach Floaroma Town.
Make sure to use the PokeCentre before heading east, all the way to Valley Windworks. A member of Team Galactic must be defeated. The door will still be closed, but the two members of Team Galactic standing in front of the northwest entrance to Floaroma Town will now have moved . Go back and go through it to fight the next set of enemies to get the Valley Windworks key.
Complete the Valley Windworks area and then head across the north bridge, now that the two galactic enemies have moved . Keep heading north on Route 205, fighting trainers and picking up items along the way, until you reach a house up some stairs. Enter the Eternal Forest, passing the house.
Cheryl will follow her until the exit is reached, and the trainers will have to engage in team battles with her. She will heal party members after each battle. She fights through the Eternal Forest until she reaches the exit. .
After leaving the Eternal Forest, Cheryl will depart, and players can head north to avoid the fishermen on the walkway, or they can fight Water-type Pokémon. Although, it turns out there are quite a few Magikarp.
After this, the trainers will have finally located Eterna City, where they will eventually beat Gardenia in Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl .
Pokémon Shining Diamond and Shining Pearl are now available for Nintendo Switch.
