The arcade racing game Horizon Chase is one of the most successful games in the genre, and now there is an official sequel. Horizon Chase 2 ( App Store link ) is available to download now on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV and Mac with an active subscription to Apple Arcade. But beware, the game is a big chunk: I had to load 1.7 GB of data onto my iPhone this morning.
Normally, I’m a real racing freak and attach great importance to realism and handling. Of course, there is none of that in Horizon Chase 2, here the absolute arcade fun is in the foreground. The speedometer shows almost 300 km/h in the first race, there are no real brakes and no damage model.
But that doesn’t matter at all, because with its grandiose presentation, the really great feeling of speed and the groovy soundtrack, Horizon Chase 2 delivers an absolutely brilliant arcade feeling.
In addition to the single player campaign, Horizon Chase 2 also offers a multiplayer mode. Here you have to join an existing crew or invite friends to become part of your own crew. I haven’t quite figured out how things work in this game mode yet. According to the description in the App Store, you should also be able to compete directly with other players.
At the weekend, however, I will first venture out on the streets of the world alone and discover Horizon Chase 2. In any case, the fun was enormous in the first few minutes. “Forget complex setups: you are just a few steps away from overtakes, forks and nitros. Dodge your rivals without batting an eyelid. This game is easy to learn and play, but difficult to master.”
